Revanda (Evan) Ghassan Randityo
Earth, Ocean Sciences at UBC
I’m Evan, a fourth-year Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences student at UBC, originally from Indonesia. My interests center on oceanography, meteorology, and climate science, with a particular focus on understanding the dynamics of the Indonesian Throughflow and how atmosphere-ocean interactions shape our environment.
Here you’ll find highlights of my projects, from drifter deployments and satellite analysis to climate modeling with CMIP6. Beyond research, I also enjoy teaching and mentoring as a TA and tutor, helping others explore the fascinating connections between the ocean, atmosphere, and climate.
This site is a place to share my academic journey, ongoing work, and the ideas I’m most excited about at the intersection of science, climate, and community.
Fields I’m Exploring
Welcome to my world of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. My work explores the physical dynamics of the ocean and atmosphere, with a focus on:
1) Oceanography - Surface circulation, upwelling, and divergence in the Banda Sea, studied through drifters, Argo floats, and satellite data.
2) Meteorology & Climate - Monsoon wind forcing, tropical variability, and atmosphere–ocean interactions (MJO, ENSO, ITF).
3) Climate Modeling - Using CMIP6 data to investigate cloud feedbacks, radiative forcing, and energy balance in the climate system.
4) Applied Research - Renewable energy, hydroelectric and micro-hydro feasibility, and the role of climate in sustainable development.
